Kernan and I had the opportunity to go to Maryland this last week! Brian's cousin Sheena and her little family live out there and we went out for a visit and a tour of the sites! It is so pretty there!! So green!! Reminded me of Oregon!
On Thursday Sheena took us to Arlington National Cemetery... Such a neat atmosphere there! My Grandma's brother in law is buried there!! Pretty neat!!
I was in love with the little white headstones!

I was in love with the little white headstones!
Aren't they amazing?!
I was also surprised by all the new "modern" headstones mixed in with the old white ones!
This is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier... Remains of a soldier are buried here from every War since World War 2! Its amazing how technology these days can make it possible to identify everyone! Dan said that not one soldier in the Iraqi war has gone unidentified! Amazing!
We also drove by the Pentagon on Thursday, it is huge!! Dan (Sheena's husband) told me there are 25,000 people who work in the Pentagon! Crazy!!
We then went to Andrews Air Force Base, that's where Dan works! So he took me on a tour, no pictures though it was raining pretty good so you wouldn't have been able to make anything out! Sorry Kolby! He showed me the hanger where they keep Air Force One!! It was really cool!!
On Friday Sheena drove me to Annapolis, did you know that it is the capitol of Maryland?? I always thought that Baltimore was!! Haha! We went to an Amish market to get pretzels, oh they were SO good!! I didn't take any pictures but I wish I had because it was the first time I had seen Amish people!
Now by Thursday night Cal decided he didn't really like Kernan being at his house and playing with all his toys 24-7! They started to not get along!! Hopefully over the years they will get over it but here are some pictures of them getting along!! ;)
First off, here is a picture of the two of them when they were babies, Cal is 6 weeks older then Kernan this was taken when Kernan was just a couple days old!
Here is Kernan playing outside with Cal...
Here is Cal, he is SO cute!!
Taking a tubby together....
So Saturday was my last day there so they took me to Washington DC! I was so giddy!! I seriously was like a kid in a candy store! It was so surreal to be there! Here are a bunch of pictures from the day!!
Here I am getting on the Metro for the first time! Thanks to Sheena for taking pictures of ME!! Without them I couldn't prove I was there!! :)
Washington Monument
The White House!!
To bad President and Mrs. Bush didn't feel like coming out for a walk with their dogs while we were there!! *wink*
The boys sporting some cool hats!
The Capital...
The Cherry Blossoms were in full bloom while I was there, which the guy on our tour bus said that happens once a year and they only bloom for a week!! I was lucky to be there when they were in full bloom!! They are beautiful!! I wish they would grow here!! :)
The Jefferson Memorial....
Look Kernan and I were there together!! haha!!
On our way to the Lincoln Memorial I stopped to feed the ducks, that one that is all brown bit my finger!! It went almost all the way down his throat!!
The Lincoln Memorial...
This statue is HUGE!! It was so cool to see it in real life!!
This is the view looking out the top of the Lincoln Memorial... Isn't it pretty! We were lucky it was such a beautiful day! It was over cast and rainy everyday I was there except Saturday!! In fact we all got a little sunburnt on our faces while at DC!!
While on our Tour Bus we took, Kernan fell asleep! At least he got a good nap! Both him and Cal!
That's it for my trip! Thank again Dan and Sheena for letting me come out to the east coast!! This west coast girl had only been east as far as Texas!! But now I can say I've been to Maryland and Virgina!! Thanks for letting me crash your house and for taking me all over!! I had a really good time! Love you guys!
