Elder Peterson enters the MTC...

So it's been a week since we dropped Kolby of at the MTC... What an emotion filled day!! I was SAD to say good bye but HAPPY that he was going... How hypocritical is that?! I was EXCITED for what was to come for him but SCARED for the exact thing! Seriously so weird! But mostly I was and am PROUD of him for what he's doing!

The entire family drove up to Provo on Tuesday and just spent the night up there before dropping him off. We hit Red Robin for dinner (per Kolby's request) and did a little shopping before bed. The next morning we woke up, got the cars packed up and then all gathered in my parents hotel room so that my Dad and Brian could give Kolby a blessing... And the crying started!
After that we headed to Krispy Kreme for doughnuts!! What an awesome last breakfast with the family, huh?! From there we headed to get some little last minute things. The morning sure flew by! Before we knew it it was noon and we needed to head over so we could take some pictures before we dropped him off!!
With the new policy at the MTC of just dropping your missionary off, rather then going in and having a meeting and sing and then go our separate ways... We had to park and walk over and take pictures...
Here's Kolby and his BUDDY on our way across the street...

I was snapping some pictures and Kolby wasn't looking, so Kernan grabbed his face and said "Look at Mom"! It was so cute!
Photobucket

That's better! Good job Kernan!

The standard "every missionary" picture! I'm sure they all have taken their picture in front of this sign!

Kolby and the kids...

I wanted this picture... I had it in my head for ever!! Love how they turned out! It's even better with the U pin!
Kolby wrote us a letter that my Grandma got on Monday, inside it says that he had to defend his Utes on his first day! A guy walked by and said "How can you wear that here?" (the MTC is on the BYU campus. The BYU and the U are BIG rivals!) and Kolby said "13 and 0" and just smiled and walked away! We all LOVED that! If you don't get it, the Utes football team was undefeated last year!! 13-0!!

After the picture at the sign, we walked back to the car and took some and said our Good-byes...
Brian's sister took this picture of all of us...

OK, this was one of the hardest for me! Kernan is going to miss his "Bobe" like crazy!! He already does! I could have done an entire blog entry just on these two saying goodbye!! It's kinda making me teary eyed right now!
Kolby had to get his belly one more time...

He **LOVES** Kolby!! and I'm pretty sure Kolby **LOVES** him!!

This will get printed and hang in his room FOR SURE!!

Next it was Maci... We actually went in age now that I look back on the pictures! How funny!

Oh, and then Brian, I guess because I was holding on until the last minute I broke the age thing.. Opps! :)
Photobucket

OK, my turn! Thank heavens for dark sunglasses so you couldn't really tell how bad we were crying!! Two years seems SO long to me! But I'm so proud of my brother! He is an awesome guy, and I'm so glad he's an example my kids and especially Kernan can look up too!

Maci joined in... She was probably trying to comfort me, I wouldn't let go!!

Then my family, Mom, Dad and their 4 kids all hoped into the Tahoe to drive him down to the MTC and drop him off! It was funny when we pulled up and the other Elders helped get his stuff out of the back of the car, they picked up his one suitcase and said "Wow, your girlfriend better not be in there!" and I said, "No, but you might want to make sure it's not his nephew!"
The last shot, before he headed in, of the fam...

Mom's turn to say good-bye!

And then Dad...

And then he was off!! We drove down the road a ways and parked to wait for Brian so we could go, and while were sitting there I said, "We didn't get any pictures of him leaving his phone!" and Mom and Dad looked at each other and said,
"I don't have his phone do you?"
"No!"
"Did you remind him to leave it?"
"Nope!"
So now we're all laughing!! He forgot to leave it and took it in with him, in his pocket!! So right then I text him with "BUSTED!" but he didn't get it. He had already turned off his phone! I was bummed because I wanted to take pictures and document him leaving it Mom and Dad but at the same time, we needed that laugh!!
In his letter he wrote us on his first day there, he sounded down and scared... It was a sad letter, had me crying again and ready to go break in and bust him out!! But he sent us a letter he wrote the very next day and he was already sounding happier! So I guess for now, I'll leave him where he should be! ;) I am so proud of him and who he is! You're probably going to hear that a lot in the next two years, so get used to it!! I'm excited to hear from him and hear his experiences! He's going to have an awesome time!! I LOVE MY BROTHER!! :D
After we dropped him off, we all headed up to Jackson Hole WY and Yellowstone! Now we're in Salt Lake City and headed back to our house today! It's been a crazy week, I have TONS of pictures to share!! So I'll be a busy blogger for awhile!

GOOD LUCK KOLBY!!! I can't believe it's been a week already, going fast already. He'll do such a great job and maybe find a cute chicka to marry. However, she has to come live here, no exceptions. The glasses were a great idea, couldn't tell at all. I was trying to see through them though, I hate that I can't make pix bigger.
