So we've lived in Utah for a year and I really hadn't made any good friends until we moved to Hurricane! Our ward down here is awesome! I've already made some good friends and I'm sure I'll make more the longer we're here! I'm so grateful we made the decision to move down here!
But I met my BEST friend that I have here in UT in a not so happy way...
As you all know, and if you don't you will learn something new today! Ü I'm a volunteer photographer for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, an organization that started in CO in May 2005, and now has well over 7000+ photographers all over the world, that volunteer their time and talents to families that don't have the opportunity to get professional pictures of their babies taken. They either are born still, die shortly after birth, are in the NICU and won't go home, or other reasons. So we photographers go down to the hospital and take pictures of the baby and their families (if the family wants to be in them). As you all know we lost a sweet little boy, Broc, 4 1/2 years ago and that's why I've chosen to do this. It actually brings me comfort, makes me feel closer to Broc, and I feel it's a way I can honor him and remember him. Sometimes the sessions are hard, I've had one that I'm not even sure that the family has even looked at their pictures, and it was 2 1/2 years ago!
But 5 weeks ago on September 12th, I got a call that a baby with Trisomy 18 was going to be delivered because she had passed away in her Mommy's tummy.
Her name is Kenadee, and it's because of her (and I'm sure Broc helped) that Jamie Sue and I met! And as Jamie Sue said on her blog, "One thing that Kenadee gave me was a great new friend in Jessica, the photographer who took our beautiful pictures with Kenadee." and I couldn't agree more!
Here is one of the pictures I took at the hospital. Their "forever" family...
We've only known each other for 5 weeks but it feels like we've known each other FOREVER and thankfully we will know each other forever now! Ü We went out to lunch like 2 weeks after Kenadee's birth and we seriously sat at Chili's for 3 hours!! With our two kids! We could just talk ALL. DAY. LONG!!
But on Wednesday we went out to a movie, just the two of us, to celebrate her 30th birthday, that is today!
I had some fun with her gift!! I couldn't be TO mean though because I'm not 30 yet! Ü
Here's what was inside...
I found this cute gift tag at Walmart! Jamie Sue put it on her keys! And it's her facebook profile picture! hehe!
We saw Julie and Julia, it couldn't have been a better choice!! Julie in the movie celebrates her 30th birthday!! We both just busted up laughing, what are the odds?!
We didn't get any pictures of the two of us together, I realized that on my way home, then when I looked at the pictures I saw my reflection in the movie sign and thought, well close enough I guess! haha!
Don't you love her cute tiara and sash I made her wear?! In AZ there are party supply stores everywhere! We only have one here! And they didn't have a "30" sash! So I made one myself!!
You better be sporting these today Jamie Sue!! Let everyone know it's your birthday and that you're 30!! Ü
Isn't she a cutie?! I'm so glad we've become such good friends!
After the movie we went to Barnes and Noble quickly to look at a book, we ended up sitting on the floor at the bookstore talking for 45 minutes! We could just talk forever!!
We just know that our two sweet angels that brought us together are playing with one another in heaven! I mean they have too be! Her and I get along so good, Kernan and her littlest Hunter play so well! (3 hours at Chili's! haha!) That there is no way they aren't good friends too! Thanks Jamie Sue for the fun afternoon out! I'm so glad we're friends!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
You old lady...hehe!

It is so nice to talk to those who understand. I think it is so awesome that you vollunteer to do the NILMDTS photography. I know I have told you that before but I have to say it again because I know how much those pictures have meant and still mean to the families. I am also glad you were able to make an good friend. It is hard moving to new places and it makes it so much easier when you can find a great friend along the way.
Thanks again! It was so fun! And just so ya know, I've lived here for 4 years, and while I have nice friends in my ward and stuff, I haven't made a friend yet that I click with as well as I do with you. And now we're probably moving...go figure! Oh well, at least we got to be friends now instead of not at all! :D Love ya!
