I thought it would be a fun thing for the month of November to do a "thankful" post each day!! Now that I'm done with Halloween updates, let's get started! Ü I just get so sad when I go into the stores after Halloween and all I see is Christmas stuff EVERYWHERE! Aren't we supposed to be "Thankful" first?! YES! So before I totally get into the Christmas spirit, I want to be thankful first!! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, I love taking the time to slow down and be thankful for what I have in my life! So let's start this thing off...
Side note: my thankful posts are in NO specific order! haha! Ü

Today I'm thankful for:
MY DAD
and what a better day to be thankful for him then on his birthday!! Ü
One thing I love the most about my Dad is how strong of an example he is to so many! His Faith in what he believes has always meant so much to me in my life! I have very fond memories of going to Stake Conferences, just me and him or Firesides and other church meetings. I can remember when I was in Young Womens and we had a service project to go to, I really didn't want to go. My Dad drove me to the stake center and on the way there he quietly handed me his scriptures and asked me to read a specific scripture that talked about service and why we're asked to do it! I've never thought twice about serving others! My Dad is a great example of serving his callings. He's been in many leadership roles as well as a counselor in two different Bishoprics, with those callings come many meetings I don't remember my Dad ever "flaking out" he always goes. He even goes above and beyond the responsibilities of his calling and takes on some of the things others should be doing! I will always look up to him for that! I'm also grateful for the example he is to Brian and my kids! My Dad also gave me my Priesthood blessing shortly after finding out we had lost Broc and beginning the delivery process, I don't remember what was said I just now that without that blessing I wouldn't have handled that entire situation as well as I did! I love you Dad!!
My Dad is a quite guy, but if you really know him, you know that he's a hilarious guy as well! We like to call it in our family, "Dad's on a ROLL!" And when my Dad gets on a "roll" it's a blast! He makes us all laugh like you can't even believe! When we moved to Utah, I remember Brian and I talking about how we were going to miss being there for them all the time! He is a funny guy!! I love it!
My Dad also gives GREAT advice! As seen in this picture, he's giving Kolby who knows what kind of advice!! But his advice is always good! Ü I remember after losing Broc, I was talking with my Dad about how everyone was saying, "I'm so Sorry" and I'd say, "It's ok..." I told my Dad, I don't know what to say because it's not ok and he told me, "just say Thanks", I loved that advice!
I know that Brian enjoys getting advice from him about things, whether that takes place on the golf course or over the phone, Brian is grateful for whatever advice my Dad gives him!
He is a great GRANDPA! My kids love him! Even if he's teasing them or goofing off with them, they love him!! And I love watching him with them!! I remember going into his office when Maci was younger and his patients would ask if she was his daughter and he'd say "Nope, that's my grand-daughter." They'd say, "No, you're to young to be a Grandpa!" and he'd say, "I tried telling them that!" haha!! Ü As Maci said in her card for Grandparents day she made, my Grandpa is a "funny bunny"! hehe! Love it!! Ü
So today I'm thankful for my Dad, for so many reasons!! I could probably go on and on!! But one of the biggest things that stands out in my mind, is what he said to me as he hugged me good-bye before we left his house the morning we moved to Utah... The entire drive that day I didn't cry, until I thought of what he said to me! It continues to bring tears to my eyes this day!! Thanks Dad!! I'm crying again!
I LOVE YOU DAD!!
Happy Birthday!!
Alright, that was Day One... They won't be as detailed as today's I'm sure, but I could go on and on about how thankful I am for my Dad, once I got started I couldn't stop!! I had to draw the line somewhere!! Ü Until tomorrow... I'm off to get dinner, wish I was at Chili's with my family for my Dad's birthday, but I guess left over chicken enchilada's will have to do! Ü
If you want to join in with me on this, I think it would be fun! Let me know in the comments section so I make sure to see what you're thankful for too!!

I agree- your Dad is one of the nicest people I have ever met. I always looked up to him. I will always remember going to Buckeye with your parents in the mustang and us hysterical over our Buckeye jokes. They are saints for putting up with us.
