We've had a big event happen at our house this weekend!! Kernan has said Bye Bye to his "ca"!! ("ca" is what Kernan calls his binki, I don't know why but it's what he's always called it!) Yes, he still had his binki, only at nap and bed but he did still use it! Ü What can I say, he's my baby!
I saw this idea on one of my other friends blogs, back in November and I knew I wanted to do it, but just wasn't ready to get rid of the "ca"! When Kernan isn't sucking his binki, he grinds his teeth, just like Maci! That noise just gets to me!! So I would rather hear him suck on plastic then grind his teeth! And if anyone can make that plastic sound good he can!! haha! But at last, after 3 1/2 years... We've said good-bye "ca"! Kernan and I set off just the two of us to say good-bye!
Here he is showing me one of his bestest friends!
I love this one.. I asked him what he had, and he said "My ca!" I love how you can tell he's saying "ca"!
I caught him getting one last suck... It was so cute, when he realized I saw him sucking on it he spit it out and then just gave me the BiGgEsT Goofest grin! He knows he's only supposed to have it when he's going to sleep!
We headed to the Bear Mill, St. George's version of Build A Bear...
When we walked in and headed to the wall with all the animals to choose from the first thing out of his mouth was, "Mom that for Stockton" well I didn't hear him well, so I said, "Oh ya a penguin, do you want to get that?" and he looked at me and said, "No Mom, that for Stockton!" I laughed!! My little brother Stockton **loves** penguins!! I thought it was so cute that he'd think of that, and that it was the first thing out of his mouth!! He loves his Uncle! Ü
It was a big decision on which one to pick!! We stood here for awhile, I pulled out a puppy and he looked at me and said, "No him not have a mouth for my "ca"... Oh no, he thought we were going to get a stuffed animal that would suck on his "ca"! I had to explain that we were putting his "ca" inside the stuffed animal so he could choose whichever one he wanted! So I began to pull out the other puppy's, bear's, an alligator, giraffe, frog, etc. When it hit me, he's never been to a place like this and he thought these ones were "broke"! haha! So I took one and showed him the stuffing machine and explained that he gets to fill it up himself... It clicked then!
So we went back to the wall, and right away he choose a TURTLE!! He said, "I get turtle like Poppy!" (Brian's Dad, Poppy, has tortoises in his backyard. Kernan loves to go out and look at them with him!)
So cute! It was a good choice!!
Now to stuff him! He had to take a handful of stuffing from "Fluff Mountain" and put it in the stuffing machine...
Then he stepped on the pedal to begin stuffing his turtle... Notice what's in his hand, I'm not sure the full concept of what we were there to do had sunk in yet!
More stuffing...
I love this picture!! This is the point in which she stopped and I said, "Ok, put your "ca" inside your turtle!"
Do you see that look on his face?! He was like, you want me to put what, where?! I was worried we'd have a break down at this point!!
But thankfully after a long pause he put his "ca" inside the turtle!
Here he is, all stuffed! Nice and soft and squishy! We don't like the stiff stuffed animals!
After he was all stuffed he took him over to get "fluffed up"!
He had to step on a pedal and air came up through the holes and he brushed him and fluffed him!
Then we went over and made his birth certificate... It's cute, you take a picture of you and your animal together and it's printed off on the birth certificate!
Introducing.... "CA" the Turtle! Aren't they both so cute?!
He's all bagged up and ready to go home!
Love this one too...
It was so fun! And he was such a big boy for the rest of the day!! We stopped at Robert's Crafts afterwards, and I asked him as we walked in if he wanted to sit in a cart or walk like a big boy.. He said, "Me walk like a big boy Mom" So he did!
I was looking at something and he said, "Mom, look there's a Christmas tree! Look behind you, see there the Christmas tree!" I was like, whoa, that was a long sentence for you! You are a big boy!! He had a few others yesterday that I want to get down...
On our way home, we passed the PetCo sign, we've never been to that store since we've lived here! So he says in the back seat...
Kernan: "Mom, Kolby take me puppy store!"
Me: realizing he saw the sign said, "Did Kolby take you to that store?"
Kernan: "Yep, Kolby take me puppy store hims truck!"
Me: "Oh ya, Kolby took you to the puppy store in his truck, huh?"
Kernan: "Yep, him did!"
Then a little while later he said, "Mom, my turtle hiding my "ca" huh?!" I thought, oh no, it could be interesting tonight! But he has done fine!! Especially considering you can feel the binki in his turtle's tummy!!
Later yesterday afternoon we went to Toquerville Falls (pictures of that coming soon!) and on our way back out, Maci was taking pictures with our little point and shoot and she had taken several of Kernan... All the sudden we hear, "Stop it Sissy, you're done!" we started laughing and Maci said, "what Kernan?" and he said "Stop taking pictures me sissy! You done!" and proceeded to put his hand up in front of the camera! It was hilarious!!
Another funny one was on our way home from Toquerville Falls we went to Dairy Queen for dinner and we drove past the library, I asked Kernan what that was, and he said...
Kernan: "That the Libaby"
Me: "Yep, you're right!"
Kernan: "Yep, that the libaby, we go story time at libaby! Sissy you come story time libaby me? Peese (please)"
Oh it was SO cute!!
Anyway, he's had a couple more but I can't think of them exactly and you're all probably tired of reading about him so I'll be done!! We just love this little boy so much!! He makes us laugh all the time and is such a loving kid! And, I'm happy to report, binki free!! My Mom joked that I should make sure all the scissors were put up high before bed time, so we didn't have a turtle accident at our house. But I think we're good! He has taken turtle everywhere! Including church and nursery! Turtle was so well behaved during church, folding his arms for prayers and sitting and looking at church books with Kernan!! It was adorable!!
And now we're off to my Grandparents for Sunday dinner and he's so excited to take him over to show the "other" Grandma and Grandpa!! Turtle even took a quick nap after church so he should be wonderful company at dinner!!
OK, seriously, I'm done this time!! He is just so cute and funny!! Next step, get him off our floor and back into his bed at night... I'll keep ya posted!! Ü

Yay, I'm so glad you did it this way! Sounds like it was a fun "date" for the two of you! What a cute kid! He's so lucky to have a great mommy like you! :D Oh, and speaking of PetCo we went there yesterday after eating my birthday breakfast at IHOP. But they were doing pet adoptions and had a bunch of dogs out front so we went to look. But we didn't bring one home because I am SO not in the market to be a pet owner.
Okay... is there a place to vote on your "favorite blog entry ever"?? I want to know, cause this has to be it! The pictures are PrICelEsS, I love every single one of them! No kidding. I'll take a copy of every one, these may just be the pictures that get me back scrapping! Lol So, so cute. And you are right, I really don't know what any of us would do without this kid! Love him!! And you! :)
This is such a good idea. Usually trying to get rid of the binky takes several days....long days...and nights. I am glad this went so well for you!!
That was cute, I was wondering when this blog would come. "scissors", that was funny. The picture where he realizes, says it all "oh no, oh ok, fine". He seems to be doing great without it.
That was a cute idea! We took Callie's away this weekend too, but ours was a little harder than that. I am glad Kernan is doing just fine without it! He is such a cute boy!
Such a good idea! And he is such a cutie! :0)
