and NO I'm not kidding!! :(
After I got home from dropping off Maci at school on Tuesday (around 9ish) I walked into the house and it suddenly hit me that I hadn't seen Bruno all morning! I walked all around our house yelling his name, walked all around outside yelling his name.. Nothing! So I called Brian and asked him if he had remembered seeing him, he said he hadn't! I lost it! I called my Mom in COMPLETE hysterics! (Sorry Mom!) I seriously could hardly catch my breath! If you don't know us well, Bruno is our first child! We got him 4 months before Maci was born, and he went EVERYWHERE with us!! So my Mom was trying to calm me down, telling me what I needed to do.. I was listening but I was crying SO hard that I wasn't really listening! She told me to get up, go make a flyer... And I remember saying, "I am up, I'm standing outside on the sidewalk!" in between sobs of course!! So I got off, got the number to the Animal Control place to see if they had him... Neither Brian or I remembered the last time we had seen him! Is that not terrible?! This dog is one of the most spoiled dogs you'll meet! And we couldn't remember when we last saw him!! Our Monday afternoon was a busy one and I was sick on top of all of this!! My plans for Tuesday were to sit in my bed all day and work on things for Peach Days this weekend! I seriously felt like POOP!! But I had to find my dog!! Animal Control didn't have him and there were no messages from anyone who had picked him up over night.... So my only hope was the flyers I had made up! And thankfully he's a "one of a kind" chihuahua, our little backwards skunk so I knew he'd be an easy one to spot!!
I called my cousin Lori and asked if she had to work, and she said no... So she came and helped me look and put up signs! (Thanks Lori!!) I was seriously SO out of it I couldn't have done it by myself! We put up all the signs and then we waited! Worst feeling ever....
You have to understand, Bruno DOES NOT run away! Even as a tiny puppy he didn't! I'd go to my Mom's house during the day, and when her and I would go run errands, we'd leave the dogs in the backyard. Bruno could fit underneath the gate and we'd come home to my tiny dog sitting in the front yard or by the front door!! He seriously doesn't go anywhere!! So Brian and I figured, he was out and someone wanted him more then us and they took him, or he was dead somewhere and I just hadn't found him yet... What a wonderful thought, eh?!
So I sat and waited all day!! I prayed, I cried, and I waited.... Oh and I sneezed, itched my eyes, was convinced my ears were going to explode and waited for my dog to come home!!
Exact picture used on my flyer... Cute little backwards skunk!
Brian got home at around 5 and was going to go ride his bike around with Maci and just yell his name, hoping he was just roaming the neighborhood and couldn't find his way home... But first he went out to his shed, which was locked... He unlocked it, opened the door and Bruno ran out, licked his leg and ran into the house!!!!!!
I was laying on the couch when I heard his paws running from the back of the house on the tile! I got up and grabbed him, saying his name over and over and asking where he had been! I was so happy to see him!! Brian came around the corner and said he was in his shed... When I was looking for him earlier, I looked at the shed and saw the lock and thought "what dog could get into a locked shed?!" and that was that! I didn't know that the day before (Monday) Brian had gotten his dirt bike out and he and Kernan had taken it for a spin around the block. When he put his bike back, he closed the door and locked it! Not realizing Bruno was in there!! Poor dog was locked in the shed for about 26 hours!!!
The shed, where poor Bruno got locked in....
He is fine! Completely unharmed and not phased by the entire thing at all!! I'm so glad we found him, I knew he wouldn't have run away!! And I'm so glad he didn't die!! Our family is complete once more, but I have to say... I'm not looking forward to the day our dogs do die! I didn't like that feeling, but I know one day it will happen! :( For now, we'll love them even more!
And that's the story of the day we lost Bruno.... with a good outcome!! Ü
